Who is this course for?
A Radiation Protection Course for Radiological Protection Officers, Supervisors and Users of Radioactive Sources. The course consists of 8 modules as follows:
- Radiation – Basic Concepts & Types of Radiation
- Health Effects of Ionising Radiation, Radiation Doses and Units of Dose
- Principles of Protection from External Radiation, Time, Distance & Shielding
- National, European and International Regulations
- Classification, Packaging & Labelling of Radioactive Packages
- Vehicle Types, Suitability, Equipment, Documentation & Security
- Incidents & Accidents, Preparation for and Documentation
- Incidents & Accidents – Practical Exercise
A written examination must be undertaken following the completion of this course. This examination is arranged by the EPA and a training certificate is issued by the Regulatory Authority following the successful completion of the course. Class 7 will be officially added to the driver training certificate following successful completion of this training. Training is valid for 5 years when refresher training must be undertaken.
