About This Course
The following options are available for delivery of the course
- By individual participants online at your own pace, including knowledge based assessments and upon successful completion a certificate will be automatically issued. (If multiple users wish to complete the course online, please contact admin@radiationsafety.ie for discounted pricing)
- It can also be undertaken remotely via Microsoft Teams for up to 10 people from the same organisation
- Alternatively, the course may also be delivered in house at your premises at a time and date that suits you and up to 10 people may attend.
Who is this course for?
A Radiation Protection Course for Radiation Protection Officers, and persons working with Industrial Radiography Equipment (Including X-rays and Radioactive Sources), in accordance with training requirements of S.I. 30 of 2019. The course content covers the following key areas;
- Radiation – Basic Concepts & Types of Radiation
- Health Effects of Ionising Radiation, Radiation Doses and Units of Dose
- Principles of Protection From External Radiation, Time, Distance & Shielding
- Protection From X-Rays and Safety Control Measures to be Followed
- Compliance with Legislation (S.I. 30 of 2019) and Licence Requirements
- Radiation Safety Procedures, Risk Assessments & RPO Role
- Industrial Radiography Safety
- ADR Transport Awareness
A learning assessment is undertaken on completion of each module and a training certificate is issued by Radiation Safety Ireland following the successful completion of the course. Certificates are valid for 3 years when refresher training is recommended.
