About This Course
This brief (40 minute) Radiation Safety Awareness course is suitable for operators of X-ray equipment. It may be undertaken online at the participant’s own pace and includes a knowledge based assessment.Upon successful completion of the course a certificate will be automatically issued. Who is this course for?
This basic awareness training course is suitable for persons who work with and operate X-ray equipment including cabinet X-ray machines, security scanners, XRF and XRD equipment, food / materials inspection X-ray equipment and portable XRF equipment.

This Radiation Safety Awareness course covers the following key areas;
- What is Radiation?
- Discovery of X-Rays
- Production of X-Rays
- Safety Controls on X-Ray Equipment
- Rules for Working Safely with X-Rays
- Causes of Exposure to X-Rays
- Legal Requirements and Responsibilities
A learning assessment is provided at the end of the course and a training certificate is issued by Radiation Safety Ireland following the successful completion of the course. Certificates are valid for 3 years when refresher training is recommended.
